Referrals

We are primary care physicians in multiple managed care plans. When your condition requires specialty care, we will make appropriate referrals for you. You may also be required to obtain referrals for emergency care, ophthalmology, chiropractic, massage and physical therapy and other types of care. Please contact us prior to seeing other providers so that we can provide a coordinated care plan to best suit your needs.

Prescription Refills

To place a request for prescription refills, call and leave your request with your participating Pharmacy. Be sure to give the name of the medication and the clinic name where you receive care. Refill requests will be faxed from the Pharmacy and are filled within two business days. We cannot refill prescriptions on holidays, weekends or after hours.

Test Results

We will contact you by mail concerning test results. Allow 7-10 days to receive test results. If you do not receive your test results within 10 days, please contact us for the results. If the results are urgent, the physician or nurse will contact you by phone immediately.

Insurance Payments

Family Medicine Newport and Family Health Center are participating providers for many major health insurance plans. If you are insured by one of the companies we are contracted with, we will gladly submit your claims (primary & secondary if applicable).

In the event your insurance company denies your claim, you will be responsible. You are also responsible for any deductibles or co-payments at the time of service. You will receive a bill for the amount owed after we hear from your insurance company.

After Hours and Holidays

There is a physician on call for the office 24-hours a day including weekends and holidays. To reach Family Medicine, call 1-800-332-0791. To reach Family Health Center, call (800) 678-1363. Please use these numbers for emergencies only.
